Kevin Abstract is not my American Boyfriend for nothing.
His third album, Arizona Baby, is a thoughtful cross-section of what it means to be openly gay in hip-hop and openly gay in America.

Abstract paints so many necessary shades of queerness into the pop culture zeitgeist, and all the while expanding his sonic repertoire. Sounding nothing like BROCKHAMPTON, or American Boyfriend, Arizona Baby is a paranoid, anxious, and heartfelt project.

There is love, and there is deep trauma. But throughout the album, there is light.
