On the surface, Brian Müller’s breakthrough album as Skee Mask is an attempt to meld furious drum patterns with gorgeous ambient passages, à la Aphex Twin.
But keep listening, and Compro becomes more complicated.
The German producer uses the last 20 years of electronic music as a massive sandbox from which to create textured tracks that are familiar enough to be enjoyable,
yet mutate enough to constantly surprise.
